The best Fortnite Easter eggs

Fornite‘s season 4 map has only been live for a short while, but that hasn’t stopped players from discovering hidden Easter eggs scattered throughout the island. From throwbacks to old content and allusions to popular franchises, the world of Fortnite is jam-packed with tongue-in-cheek content. Things are likely to change as the weeks march on and Epic Games tweaks the map, but here are some the best Fortnite Easter eggs you can find this season.

Rifts through space and time

Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

They’ve been a staple of Fortnite for many seasons, and this time around it’s no different. You can yet again find dimensional rifts scattered across the island that will teleport you high into the sky, allowing you to glide away from the impending storm if you happen to lose track of time. It’s also the perfect way to quickly escape from an overpowered enemy, but be careful — each rift can only be used once before it closes.

Tony Stark’s makeshift workshop

Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

Inside a nondescript barn lie some of the most futuristic technology the island has ever seen. Various tools, panels, and electronics are lying about its interior, and it was obviously the location where the large red reflector panels were assembled before getting placed around the map. We’re not sure what purpose they serve, but we know they’ll probably have a big impact on the island over the coming weeks. Located near The Authority, the barn is an easy target to spot when flying above the fortress in a helicopter — just look for the big red building with a glowing reflector beside it.

An ode to Brutus

Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

The Authority is a pretty barren location these days, as most of the henchmen have packed their bags and fled to greener pastures. Cobwebs and boxes are the primary occupants, but hidden among them is a tribute to one of its most popular former agents — Brutus. His stylish helmet, a picture of his likeness, and even a crying henchmen can be found memorializing the former boss. Is it possible that he’s still lingering around somewhere, waiting to return to duty once the Avengers have saved the island?

Truckasaurus statue

Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

Not content to have a crossover event with one behemoth franchise, Fortnite has dedicated a statue to another popular IP — The Simpsons. It’s not a perfect recreation of the iconic beast — and this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the hilarious statue make an in-game appearance — but stumbling upon the massive vehicle-dinosaur hybrid in season 4 is a fantastic little Easter egg.

As opposed to previous seasons when it stood proudly guarding the roadside, this time around we find it destroyed and washed ashore behind Dirty Docks. We’re not sure what the future holds for our beloved Truckasaurus, but we’re hopeful Epic Games will restore it to its former glory.

Law offices of Jennifer Walters

Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

In the Marvel Universe, Jennifer Walter pulls double duty as both the incredible She-Hulk and a high-powered lawyer. While you’ll unlock the Jennifer Walters playable skin just by leveling the Battle Pass, you’ll have to visit her law office tucked away in Retail Row if you want to transform into She-Hulk. There’s not too much to discover on the inside — it’s just an old house converted into an office — but it’s a great location to hunker down as the ring starts to close, and another cool way to reference the Marvel Universe.

Ferris Bueller’s Fancy View

The developers at Epic Games love to keep changing up this locale each season, and this time around there are a couple of new things to discover. Based on the iconic garage scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and added during Chapter 2 season 1, the building has been under construction through the majority of seasons 2 and 3. However, now in season 4, you can sometimes find a drivable car inside the garage, and a new crane has been installed behind the house that is lifting the previous crane out of the water. Feel free to hop in the sports car and take it for a joyride — just know that running it in reverse won’t reset the odometer. Head on over to the western side of the island to get a firsthand look at the new developments.

Bifrost markings

Jon Bitner / Digital Trends

The Bifrost is an interdimensional transport system that allows Asgardians to travel throughout the universe. It also happens to be the way that all this season’s Marvel characters ended up on battle island. Located near the pile of destroyed Sentinels, the Bifrost markings match perfectly with the trailers released at the beginning of the season, and there is one marking for each character in the Battle Pass.

More to come this season

Things are just getting started with the latest Marvel crossover, and we’re excited to see where things go in the coming weeks. As Galactus and the Avengers do battle, the map is bound to see many of our favorite locations blown to bits — and with it, the introduction of a new batch of Easter eggs.

The best vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2
Dragon's Dogma 2 key art featuring a knight with a fiery hole in their chest.

Your Vocation defines your role in combat in Dragon's Dogma 2. Everything from your skills to what weapons and armor you can use is tied to this class. You will pick from just a handful at the beginning of the game, but can easily change Vocations later on, as well as unlock more than twice as many new options than what you start with. It can take a while to really get a feel for a Vocation and how it performs in combat, as well as to look through all of its skills and augments, before knowing if it's worth sticking with to level up. Personal preference will play a part to some degree, but these Vocations have the most potential to make you the strongest Arisen in history.
The best vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2

You can pick from 4 Vocations at the start of Dragon's Dogma 2, but will end up with a total of 10 by the end of the game if you unlock them all. New Vocations are unlocked by completing quests, but they are almost unmissable. Four Vocations -- the Magick Archer, Mystic Spearhand, Trickster, and Warfarer -- can only be used by your character and not any Pawns.
Warfarer
There's very little downside to being a jack-of-all-trades in Dragon's Dogma 2, which is exactly what the Warfarer is. This is the only Vocation that can use any weapon in the game AND learn any skill from other Vocations. This is the only Vocation that really lets you build whatever class you want and gives you the ability to adapt to any situation you find yourself in. The main downside to this class is it has the lowest base stats, but that is a small price to pay for how versatile you can be.
Mystic Spearhand
Hybrid Vocations are all quite powerful, but we put the Mystic Spearhand at the top of the heap. This class turns you into a fighter that can take advantage of magic to output crazy damage. The two almost overpowered abilities you get here are the ability to slow enemies for a short time and to create a magical mimic that doubles all your actions. It is great for both crowd control and large single targets, but takes a while to unlock and lacks some range.
Warrior
If you're going to be a straight-up melee fighter, you might as well hit with the biggest weapon you can, right? The Warrior swings swords large enough to make Guts blush and is a full-on tank. You won't be doing anything fancy with this vocation beyond charging up and swinging as hard as possible. The obvious drawback is any flying or ranged enemy will counter you, so bring some Pawns in those classes to cover your bases.
Sorcerer
For those who fancy themselves a pure mage, stick to the Sorcerer over the actual Mage vocation. While the Mage is more focused on healing, it is the Sorcerer who gets the best offensive spells you will want to be casting. If you have a second Sorcerer with you, you can even sync up and decrease your casting time. If not, you will need some tanks to take aggro while you deal with some slightly long casting times and low total health.
Thief
As far as the starting Vocations go, the Thief is the one we find the most fun and viable for the entire game. This is a light and speedy build focused on critical hits and being able to climb and hang on to large beasts. Once on, you have a number of great skills to stagger and knock down an enemy so the rest of your squad to gang up on it. Just don't get hit because you're one of the squishier Vocations.

The best places to land in Fortnite (Chapter 5, Season 2)

Survival is key in Fortnite, and it all starts by picking the best starting location. Even if you're an expert player, your likelihood of coming out on top is greatly diminished if you start off on the wrong foot -- whether it be at a barren location with no loot or a hot drop that could lead to a swift death.

As part of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, there's no shortage of fantastic landing spots, but which one is best comes down to your skill and preference. With that in mind, here are the best places to land in Fortnite for veterans, beginners, and everyone in between.
The best places to land in Fortnite
Before jumping into the list of the best places to land in Fortnite, it's important to be aware of what makes a good landing spot. Sure, any place with decent loot might serve you well, but there's more to consider than that. Does a spot have a consistent chest/loot spawn? Are there guaranteed materials? Is it close to other places of interest (POI)s? Is it out of the way? Of course, loot is the most important aspect, but it does you no good to have a stacked loadout if you're stuck in the storm. These recommended landing spots all have some degree of consistency and fantastic loot. they also typically have some quirk that makes them effective depending on your playstyle.

Can you fix the Fortnite servers not responding error?
Fortnite running on the Samsung Odyssey OLED G6 at CES 2024.

The last thing you want to see when loading upĀ Fortnite for a match with your friends, especially when a big new update is dropping, is to be hit with an error. The worst of which might be the "Fortnite servers not responding" error due to how vague it is. Most people don't know what servers are, let alone what it means when they aren't responding, except that you can't play your game. The question then becomes if you have any power to solve this issue yourself or if you're forced to wait until Epic Games addresses it on its end.
Can you fix the servers not responding error in Fortnite?

The first thing to do when encountering this error in Fortnite is to go straight to the Epic Games Help website or X account (formerly Twitter). This will let you know if it is something on Epic Games' end that is the issue and also keep you updated on the status of when the servers are expected to be fixed. Servers can also be taken down for maintenance or in preparation for major updates, which will also be accounted for here. If this is the case, there's nothing to do but wait until they announce the servers are back up and running.
