How to fix the Nanoleaf Essentials Smart Bulb without a hard reset

If your Nanoleaf Essentials Smart Bulb is acting up in any way (such as not responding to the smartphone app or not toggling on and off properly), there are several actions you should take before performing a hard reset.

The first thing you should attempt is to simply unplug the light they're connected to, then plug it back in. Power cycling a device is often all you need to do to get itworking properly. If that doesn't work, try removing the bulb and screwing it back in place after waiting for one minute.

Still no luck? If your bulb is connected to a lamp that's controlled by a wall switch, be sure to ensure it hasn't been turned off. A light bulb with no power running to it (obviously) can't be controlled with your smartphone app.

The last thing to try is turning off Bluetooth on your smartphone, waiting a minute, then turning it back on. You might also want to ensure you're running the latest version of the smartphone app (this can be found by diving into the Apple App Store or Google Play Store).

If none of the above helps, then it might be time to perform a hard reset.

How to reset the Nanoleaf Essentials Smart Bulb

Keep in mind that performing a reset will delete all the data related to your smart bulb, including all your connection information. Here's how to perform a factory reset.

Step 1: Remove the bulb from your list of devices on the Nanoleaf app.

Step 2: Turn the light bulb off, wait for three seconds, then turn it back on for less than one second.

Step 3: Do this cycle (off for three seconds, on for less than one second) five times.

Step 4: After the fifth time, your bulb will flicker red to let you know it was successful.

Step 5: You can then proceed to pair your bulb with the rest of your home as if you were installing it for the first time.

Govee Curtain Lights 2 now with AI for dynamic lighting and more
Govee Curtain Lights 2 featured image mounted on house

I have Govee smart lights all over my home. I have some in my office, in my humidor, and across various places, even some on my patio. One of the main reasons why I prefer Govee and why I like the brand so much is the sheer variety of lighting effects that are available through the mobile app. But with its latest release, the second generation of the smart Curtain Lights -- Curtain Lights 2 -- Govee is changing things up a little. With them, you'll get refined lighting displays, improved DIY effects, full Matter support, as well as Apple HomeKit, Alexa, and Google Home support. Most of all, they'll take advantage of a unique AI lighting bot that simplifies the dynamic effects process.

The AI lighting bot allows you to control and create lighting effects, on the fly, using merely your voice or text commands. Not only is it effective but it simplifies the process remarkably so. Couple that with the fact that there are hundreds of preset effects available through the app, along with the option to fully customize each scene in your own way, and it means the possibilities are endless.

The Lepro TB1 AI table lamp uses an LLM to take smart lighting to new places

Lighting is one of those tech categories that's come a long way over the years, but when you really stop and think about it, things aren't all that different. The biggest change in recent times is the swap to more efficient LED lighting, with varying color options and styles. For example, you can buy smart light strips, lamps, and a variety of other types of lighting now that never existed even just a decade ago. But for the most part, a light is a light. You turn it on, turn it off, and even with smart lighting that's pretty much what you're doing. Sure, you can set schedules and all of that jazz, but most of it is centered around turning the lights on or off. And that makes perfect sense. But is it really innovative? Lepro aims to change that with its TB1 AI table lamp.

Even without its AI and smart features, the TB1 is something to behold. It has a totally unique design, with a globe-like frame and helix-based centerpiece, and all of it illuminates in exotic, entrancing RGB colors. Thanks to something called LightBeats music sync it offers dynamic lighting that matches music rhythms. A built-in mic picks up the audio to sync it all up and it utilizes AI algorithms to create the dynamic scenes. But it's so much more than that. It also connects with smart assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant. It offers full lighting and color customization through a smart app, and it really sets the mood in whatever space you place it. Let's shine a light on what else it can do.
