NPD Group has released its latest video game industry projections, and it's more good news for the thriving Nintendo Switch. Despite not a single Switch exclusive in the top 10 projections, NPD predicts the Switch will be the best-selling console of 2018 thanks to a strong holiday season.

TwitchCon 2018 tickets are on sale now. The fourth annual all-things-streaming convention includes a couple of new events, including meet and greets with popular streamers and a 50-hour Games Done Quick marathon. Attendees will also be able to try new and upcoming games on the expo floor.
‘Fortnite’ Playground mode to go offline July 12 — but it will return
Fortnite: Battle Royale's limited-time Playground mode will end July 12. The mode only went live July 3, so this is probably disappointing for many fans. Don't worry, though, Epic will start the process of adding new features once it's offline, including team selection. Playground will return.
The Best New Games of July 2018
The weeks following E3 are always slow for video games and July is no exception to that. There are still several noteworthy games landing in the heart of summer though, including the gorgeous Switch RPG Octopath Traveler, a pair of Mega Man compilations, and a couple of exciting ports.

‘Doom Eternal’ brings packs of hellish demons to Earth
During its E3 2018 press conference, Bethesda and id Software announced Doom Eternal, the sequel to 2016's reboot of the iconic first-person shooter franchise. This time around, the demons have found their way to Earth and there are twice as many as before. More details will be revealed at QuakeCon.

Flip Grip is one of the cooler Nintendo Switch-focused Kickstarter campaigns we've seen. The grip lets you play classic arcade games in portrait mode while on the go. The crowdfunding campaign has already exceeded its target of $42,500, so backers can expect Flip Grip to ship in November.

Pokémon Quest arrives on Android and iOS on June 27, nearly a month after the free-to-play game launched on Switch. While Quest is more of a passive experience than a full Pokémon game, it should hit the sweet spot for fans looking for a casual Pokémon game ahead of the launch of Let's Go, Pikachu!
Pre-order the ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ GameCube controller now
You can once again pre-order a new GameCube controller. The Super Smash Bros. Ultimate-themed gamepad is available for pre-order at GameStop, Amazon, and Best Buy for $30. If you don't have one already, you'll also need a USB adapter, which houses up to four GameCube controllers. The adapter costs $20.
Select Insiders can now access the new Xbox Avatars
The long-awaited Xbox Avatar redesign has arrived for Alpha and Alpha -- Skip Ahead Insiders via the Xbox One Preview Program. As of now, Insiders can take the new Avatar Editor for a spin. Additional customization options and dashboard integration will arrive soon. A public rollout shouldn't be long.

‘The Division 2’ will have multiplayer raids and three free DLC packs
During its E3 2018 press conference, Ubisoft revealed that The Division 2 will have multiplayer raids that support up to eight players. In a change from the original, the first year of DLC -- three content packs -- will be available to all players for free. The Division 2 launches on March 15.
You, yes you, can contribute content to ‘Beyond Good & Evil 2’
To open its E3 2018 press conference, Ubisoft showed off a new trailer and gameplay footage for Beyond Good & Evil 2, which gave us a glimpse of a familiar face. Additionally, Ubisoft announced the Space Monkey program, a partnership that will let fans contribute content that could appear in the game.

‘Fallout 76’ is an online-only ‘soft-core’ survival game arriving this November
During Bethesda's pre-E3 press conference, the studio finally revealed Fallout 76. While it's still an RPG at heart, it will be an online-only game where every character is a real player. It will expand on Fallout 4's base-building system, and introduce nuclear missile sites for causing havoc.
‘The Elder Scrolls: Blades,’ a free-to-play mobile RPG, arrives this fall
Capitalizing on the success of Fallout Shelter, Bethesda is bringing The Elder Scrolls franchise to mobile devices. Unlike Fallout Shelter, Blades looks like the full Elder Scrolls experience, complete with dungeons, towns, and player-versus-player combat. The free-to-play game launches this fall.
CD Projekt Red gives impressive first look at sprawling world of ‘Cyberpunk 2077’
To close out Microsoft's E3 2018 show, we got our first good look at CD Projekt Red's next massive RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. From flying cars, to robot fights, to rogue body alterations, Cyberpunk 2077 definitely earns its name. No word yet on when the game launches, but it's probably still a ways away.
‘Devil May Cry 5’ finally announced, and it looks as crazy as you’d hoped
During Microsoft's E3 2018 press conference, Capcom unveiled Devil May Cry 5, the long-awaited sequel to 2008's Devil May Cry 4. Devil May Cry 5 will once again focus on Nero, Dante's nephew who also has the devil trigger. The game launches in Spring 2019 with the original series director at the helm.
‘Halo Infinite’ will be Master Chief’s ‘greatest adventure yet’
To open its E3 2018 press briefing, Microsoft unveiled Halo Infinite, the next mainline entry in Microsoft's flagship first-person shooter franchise. The trailer didn't tell us much, but it did show Master Chief holding his helmet. Could we finally see what the mysterious protagonist looks like?
