Peripheral and accessory maker Logitech has announced its Logitech Speaker System Z623, a new stereo speaker system (plus subwoofer) that brings something unusual for PC or stereo television speaker setups: THX certification. And the Z623 promises to bring that high sound quality with plenty of power to spare, with 200 watts RMS to provide clear, distortion-free audio.
“Whether you’re listening to rock music, watching a Steven Spielberg flick, or playing your favorite video game, the experience is always richer when you get engrossed in the audio,” said Logitech’s audio business VP and general manager Mark Schneider, in a statement. “That’s why we built the Logitech Speaker System Z623—so you can lose yourself in whatever you’re into.”
Logitech says it worked closely with THX to engineer the Z623 to meet high performance standards for frequency response, distortion, power output, noise, and overall performance, including more than 400 electrical and acoustic bench tests to confirm the system can handle a full range of high-quality applications. The satellite speakers are designed to bring clear dialog and ambient sound to users, while the subwoofer brings rich, powerful bass, whether from music or events in a game or movie.
The Z623 speaker system sports RCA and 3.5mm inputs; the right satellite speaker sports a 3.5mm input jack as well as a headphone output and controls for bass output, volume, and power.
Logitech says the Speaker System Z623 should be available in the U.S. and Europe this September for a suggested retail price of $149.99.
