Buffalo Launches New USB 2.0 Hard Drives
Buffalo Technology has expanded its line of storage products with new DriveStation external hard drives.
Buffalo Technology today announced it has expanded its line of storage products with the DriveStation line of external hard drives. The product is available in capacities of 80GB (HD-HB80U2), 120GB (HD-HB120U2), 160GB (HD-HB160U2) and 250GB (HD-HB250U2).
The DriveStation is designed for home, SOHO and small business users to backup large files such as presentations, audio and digital photos that guzzle-up room on a computer’s main drive, thus allowing them to free-up space and increase performance.
“In today’s digital age, users are increasingly saving large files like photos, videos and music on their computers’ main drives. Those files consume a lot of space and drain resources,†stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of Product Marketing and Public Relations. “The DriveStation is an affordable, plug-n-play solution that conserves resources and enhances performance while protecting valuable files.â€
The DriveStation is a Windows and Macintosh compatible USB hard drive that supports USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. The product comes pre-formatted out-of-the-box for immediate installation. The included backup utility allows users to customize backup scheduling for ultimate data protection and main drive preservation. The product’s fanless design allows for silent operation while the Heat Sink Chassis cools internal components.
The DriveStation also includes an Auto Power-On feature that allows it to associate with the power of the attached computer and automatically powers-on or off with the computer. The power-saving shutdown feature allows users to schedule the product’s power-off capabilities. All capacities of the DriveStation run at 7200 rpm. Its sleek rectangular design allows the DriveStation to perfectly fit vertically or horizontally into any desk or office space.
The DriveStation can also be used as a backup drive to Buffalo’s LinkStation Network Storage Center. The DriveStation 80GB (HD-HB80U2) and 120GB (HD-HB120U2) and are now available at estimated street prices of $119 and $179 respectively. The DriveStation 160GB (HD-HB160U2) and 250GB (HD-HB250U2) are also immediately available at estimated street prices of $199 and $299 respectively.
