Nexus 10 vs. Apple iPad 4: Spec showdown

nexus 10 vs ipad 4

google-nexus-announcementsDespite Google canceling its New York event at the last moment, due to the impending threat from Hurricane Sandy, it decided to announce its new products today anyway. Alongside the Nexus 4 smartphone, it has come up with another new tablet, named the Nexus 10. Designed by Samsung, it has a spec that’s potentially capable of slaying some giants, so let’s compare it to the biggest giant out there.

What it means: If you’re not saying “wow” when you read the Nexus 10’s spec, have another look, as it’s deeply impressive. The screen size is slightly larger than the iPad, but the overall footprint is smaller, and the tablet is a little lighter too. But it’s the screen resolution that has probably caught your eye, as it’s higher even that the iPad’s Retina display, and although it’s not listed in our table, the pixel density is a massive 300ppi, beating the iPad’s 264ppi. We’re still waiting to hear if the Nexus 10 houses Samsung’s Exynos 5 Dual chip though.

Finally, there’s the price. The basic, 16GB Nexus 10 is $100 less than the equivalent Apple iPad, making it a very attractive deal indeed. It’s going on sale November 13 in the US, the UK, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, Canada and Japan.
