Royal Philips Electronics plans to ship 3.2 million LCD and CRT monitors in the Asia-Pacific region in 2004, with LCD monitors taking up 80% of the shipments.
Growing PC sales from the region are expected to boost monitor sales. Aspden expects sales volume of PCs from the region to account for 26% of the global market in 2006, up from only 21% in 2003, with the annual growth rate increasing from 9.1% to 13%. Europe and US markets should gradually decline during the period, she added.
Philips and Samsung Electronics are the top two monitor makers in the Asia-Pacific region.
