NEC Launches TV Cell Phone In China

Right after the announcement that TV broadcasts for cell phones are lacking standardization, NEC announces their new N940 TV-enabled cell phone.

NEC Corp unveiled Monday the N940, a cell phone developed for the Chinese market, saying the new model is expected to be the first handset capable of receiving television programs to hit the world’slargest mobile phone market.

The cell phone, which has a 2.1-inch liquid crystal display, will be put on sale by the end of March 2005, the electrical machinery maker said. It is expected to sell for about 3,000 yuan (about 40,000 yen).
