Take-Two Avoids FTC Smackdown

Take-Two Interactive avoided being fined or penalized by the FTC over Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, pledging never again to misrepresent game ratings or content.

Game publisher Take-Two Interactive has managed to avoid the wrath of the Federal Trade Commission: according to Take-Two, the FTC has declined to fine or penalize the company or its subsidiary Rockstar Games over hidden sexual content included in the original edition of the company’s popular game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Instead, in the consent agreement, Take-Two says it will never again misrepresent the ratings or content descriptions of a video game, and the company will create a system to ensure all game content is reviewed in submissions to ratings authorities like the ESRB.
