Chris Evans appears in costume as Captain America on the upcoming cover of EW.

And behold: Captain America! Sure, we have already seen images of the costume, and sure, we have seen the costume in action thanks to a stunt double, but if the man in the suit can’t pull it off then none of that matters. Judging by the upcoming cover of EW, so far so good.

The Entertainment Weekly has published the first pictures of Chris Evans as Captain America. In the image you can see the WWII influenced design and the boss shield that Cap will use to pummel some Ratzi scum, plus you can check out Evans as a blonde if that’s your thing.

Captain America: The First Avenger stars Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, a runt of a man that volunteers for a program to make him into a super soldier– it works, obviously, or there wouldn’t be much of a movie. The film takes place during WWII, and will serve as the origin story for Cap who will next be seen in The Avengers. You can also expect Evans to pop up all over the place as Cap, as he signed a six picture deal with Marvel.

Directed by Joe Johnston (Wolfman, Jurassic Park III), the movie hits theaters on July 22, 2011.

  1. Randy at 8:54am 31st October 2010 Iron Man was the first movie where Marvel had total control.....it was THEIR production.....and you're starting to see the results. Alas, it came too late to save the Fantastic Four so Evans won't be involved in any "conflict".
  2. PMAS at 12:22pm 28th October 2010 @ioman Exactly. The fact that all the biggest superheroes rights were sold to different companies killed any idea of the great collaborations also. Not fair to the fans!!
  3. ioman at 11:02am 28th October 2010 Not a fan. How can he be the Human Torch in one set of films and Captain America in another? Totally ruins everything for me.
    1. Nik D. at 10:39pm 31st December 2010 Agreed. I was already annoyed with the cross-casting of Halle Berry as Storm and Catwoman and what's his face as Cyclops and the guy raising Superman's kid. Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool and GL. Seriously? There are plenty of actors out there. It's not that hard to find someone else. Not to mention, Chris Evans was pretty perfectly cast as the Human Torch but Captain America? I don't see it. There are much better actors out there who could have been great in the role.
