Motorola Launches In-Car Music Service

Motorola's new iRadio music service targets satellite radio services and other in-car music services.

“iRadio starts with a Microsoft Windows, Macintosh, or Linux PC running Motorola’s software. The software lets a user subscribe to channels of music and talk radio, and also provides a window into a library of digital music files stored locally. iRadio uses a Bluetooth-enabled cell phone as an audio-storage device: the software transfers audio content to the phone when it’s connected to the PC via a USB cable. Motorola and Apple are working on integrating the upcoming iTunes phone into iRadio. MP3 and WMA are supported via Windows Media smart phones and Motorola’s own J2ME-based phone software. “
